Report: The Fourteenth International Nursing Forum

On Saturday, October 27, 2012, the Oita University of Nursing and Health Sciences Fourteenth International Nursing Forum was held at B-Con Plaza in Beppu City, Oita. The theme of the forum was "The Role of Nurses for End – of – Life Patients ".


The speakers were Dr. Margaret O’Connor, Professor of the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, and Leader of the Palliative Care Research Team of Monash University, Australia; Dr. Kwon So–Hi, Professor of the College of Nursing, Kyungpook National University, Korea, and Secretary of the Korean Hospice Nurses Association; and Dr. Hideki Ota, the General Director of the Activities Supporting Medicine Systematic Services (ASMss), and Secretary General of the Japan Network of Home Care Supporting Clinics.


Dr. O'Connor spoke on “End - of - Life Care in Australia: Issues and Trends”. Dr. Kwon spoke on End - of - Life Care in Korea: Issues and Trends”. Dr. Ota spoke on “The Role of Health Care Teams in End - Of - Life Care in Japan ”.


The large audience of 297 who attended the Forum was made up of faculty and students from our university and from other nursing colleges, and members of the nursing and medical professions from Oita and other places in Kyushu and Japan. Thanks to the efforts of our three guest speakers the forum was a great success.
