Mission Statement

Our mission is to train and educate students to fully assume the professional role of nurses to help address our national and local health care needs. OUNHS is committed to playing a leading role in the advancement of excellence in education, research, and community outreach and engagement in nursing in Japan.

 

Vision Statement

We will promote the health and well-being of our society by providing future leaders in health care, nursing education and nursing research. We will improve the health and welfare of our local communities by developing clinically competent nurses highly skilled in comprehensive nursing practice, decision making, critical thinking and patient care management.

 

Educational Objectives

  1. To cultivate a deep reverence for life and compassion and empathy for others that develops a strong sense of self-awareness and ethical responsibility as a nursing professional
  2. To acquire advanced specialized knowledge and problem-solving skills based on scientific evidence that enables an appropriate response to the nursing needs of each individual
  3. To cultivate a deep understanding of the role of nursing that enables active and effective collaboration with other health, medical and welfare professionals in supporting human health
  4. To develop an interest in community health issues that provides an understanding of local health-related needs and enables the provision of quality nursing care in diverse settings
  5. To develop the ability to communicate with individuals from different cultural backgrounds and engage in a wide range of activities from a global perspective
  6. To develop the comprehensive educational and research skills necessary to contribute to the advancement of nursing science as a nursing professional

 

Nursing Practice Objectives

  1. To learn to build independent and evolving relationships with each individual patient through understanding and respect
  2. To understand the physical and mental condition and lifestyle of patients at each health level and life stage and to provide them with appropriate nursing care based on scientific judgment
  3. To understand the roles and activities of other health, medical, and welfare professionals in relation to their own as a nursing professional when collaborating together and utilizing social resources
